Tayside Age Group Leagues

What are the Tayside age Group Leagues?

These are run within Midland District as a stand-alone, friendly set of galas which take place over each calendar year. Perth has entered a team into Division 1 for 2017.

Each team in a division will host a home gala attended by all other league participants. All club officials and helpers are invited to help with our home gala. The programme will include Freestyle and Medley relays in each age group, plus individual races in each stroke. Each team member will swim a maximum of both relays and one individual race. Points are awarded for placings and totaled for each meet to decide who will win the annual trophy.

The age groups for the Division 1 are; 10 & under, 11/12, 13/14 and 15 & over, boys and girls.

It is important that you come to every gala that you are selected for, otherwise the other members of your age group will not be able to swim as a relay team.

What should I bring with me to the league galas?

- Swimming costume + spare

- Goggles + spares

- Club swim cap

- Club tracksuit top/t-shirt, shorts/tracksuit bottoms

- Clean flip flops/crocs/similar - to keep your feet warm on poolside

- 2 towels, for poolside + changing

- Money for your locker

- Water bottle with water or juice, at least 500ml

- High-carbohydrate, healthy snacks for during the gala (make sure you ask the coach before eating anything)

Bus times will be posted on the notice board. It is preferable for you to travel to and from the gala on the bus. If you are an official or team helper, you can travel with the team on the bus at no charge, but all other parents are very welcome to attend by private car to cheer the team on. (If there is space on the bus, parents are welcome to travel with the team if they pay the £5 contribution). Please ensure that you are at Perth Leisure Pool at least 15 minutes before the bus is due to leave, so that the Team Managers can check everyone is there and that the bus leaves on time
